Gabriela Isler is rapidly becoming as well known for her humanitarian work as she is for being named Miss Universe 2013. During her reign, she traveled to communities in the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Haiyan and launched the Miss Universe Cordaid Fund. These efforts have been recognized by the Vatican and resulted in a public humanitarian blessing from Pope Francis. She has also served as a spokesperson for HIV/AIDS awareness and has spent time on Capitol Hill to support amFAR. In her role as brand ambassador for in/PACT (www.inpactnow.com) and in partnership with Cisneros Media, Isler has reached over 20 million people with the media launch of the Universe of Blessings Fund, a 501c3 organization, which seeks to empower young women and girls and decrease the rates of adolescent pregnancy and maternal mortality which are especially problematic in her native Venezuela.
Deeply concerned about the women and girls victimized by modern slavery, Isler has made several appearances to address the issue and moderated a panel at the United Nations exploring ways NGOs can better collaborate to combat human trafficking. As a member of the Advisory Council for The Resolution Project (http://www.resolutionproject.org/), she recently helped judge a session of Social Venture Challenges held at the United Nations which identifies and mentors young leaders engaged in social entrepreneurship. Aligned with the top priority the migrant issue has received from Pope Francis and the Vatican, she is a global ambassador for the Scalabrini International Migration Network. Isler continues to pursue her career as a model and as a television commentator and has been named as a philanthropic ambassador for Bally, Inc. She also serves as global ambassador for the Arts for Porticus (https://www.porticus.com/en/home) in their shared commitment to El Sistema, a worldwide movement for social change through the arts.
