    When Hugh Shirley was born on 15 October 1917, in Taylor, Kentucky, United States, his father, John Thomas Shirley, was 43 and his mother, Charlotte Florence Roach, was 37.     Margaret Katherine Bellamy, 93, of Glasgow died Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Barren County Health & Rehab Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Maggie Bridges Powell.
    Katherine was a graduate of Austin Tracy High School and the widow of the late Thomas “Tommy” Elmore Bellamy. She retired as an insurance clerk from T.J. Samson Community Hospital and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church.
    Survivors include one daughter, Tommie Kaye Thomas and husband Randy of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Josh Thomas (Aundi), Ben Thomas (Halie) and Amanda Meek (Casey); 11 grandchildren, Conlee, Jase, Leigha, Kate, Trapper, Ava, Lacey, Jonah, Addie, Tate and Ruie; and several nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Jordan; and five brothers, Carl, Earl, Billy Joe, Wendell and Botts Powell.
    The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Barren County Health & Rehab Center for their dedicated service and care given to Katherine.
    In keeping with her request, Katherine’s family plans to have a private service and requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in her honor to the Refuge Cemetery, c/o Jason Chenoweth, P.O. Box 1382, Glasgow KY 42142-1382. Arrangements are entrusted to Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

    Wanda Lynn Pedigo, 60, of Glasgow died Friday, May 24, 2024, at Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green. A native of California, she was the daughter of Ann Compagnon and Col. Hughie Richard Pedigo.
    Lynn was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and was an interior decorator and architectural designer. She was a former member of the board of directors of the Kentucky Horse Park.

         Glenn P. Glasgow, M.S., Ph.D., FAAPM, FACR, age 75, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019, following a brief battle against idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  As in life, he was surrounded by his family at the time of his death. 

         Glenn Patrick Glasgow was born in Columbia, Kentucky and from his earliest childhood exhibited the zest for knowledge that would define his time with us as a life-long scholar.

         Glenn earned a B.S. in physics and mathematics from Western Kentucky State College (now Western Kentucky University) in 1965; an M.S. from the University of Kentucky in 1969; and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1974.  He left Kentucky to pursue both an academic and medical career in radiation oncology and medical physics, first as a tenured professor of Radiation Physics at the Washington University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, MO.  After moving to River Forest, IL, he enjoyed decades of professional success as a tenured professor of Radiation Oncology at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, while also working in the Department of Radiotherapy for Loyola Hospital and the Hines VA Hospital, in Maywood, IL.  Among his proudest professional accomplishments, he was a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Fellow of the American Association of Physics in Medicine, the highest recognitions in his field.

         During his 40+ years of experience in Therapeutic Radiological Physics ('78-ABR) and Health Physics ('82-ABHP) Glenn contributed extensively to his discipline, serving on national committees, including as President of the Midwest Chapter of the American Association of Physics in Medicine, and authoring/co-authoring 188+ manuscripts, many of which were in his specialty areas of brachytherapy, radiation shielding, facility design, radiation safety, high dose rate remote afterloading, total body irr

    Shirley Ann Gravens Wooten, 70, of Glasgow, died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. She was born in Barren County, the daughter of the late Jay Medley and Mary Frances Guinn Medley. Mrs. Wooten was a homemaker. She will be loved and missed by all that knew her. Survivors include her companion, G.B. Huff of Glasgow, KY; son, Jason Gravens (Dianna) of Edmonton, KY; 2 daughters Charlotte Pedigo and Teresa Haire (Doug) both of Glasgow, KY; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 4 sisters Nelda Lewis, Brenda Hill, Linda Atwell and Sheila Medley all of Glasgow, KY. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Gravens; 2 brothers, Gary and Charles Medley. Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 3rd at the A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm till 8:00pm and on Wednesday until time for services at the funeral home.
