Tharu Dilena Reyak”, staged under the “Brave Hearts” project, mooted on a concept proposed by none other than the Commander of the Army himself with the lavish support received from the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), presided by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, brought a galaxy of leading and most popular artistes, vocalists, stars, dancers and disable War Heroes under the canopy of the stadium’s grey sky as the packed crowd of over 4000 spectators burst into thundering applause during the chain of each and every segment of the entire show as curtains raised.

    Press Conference – 16th Raigam Tele'es - 2019

    Press conference on sixteenth encounter of Raigam Tele’es held on 17th December 2019 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. The Nominations Evening to announce nominees for awards will be held on 28th February 2020 at Kingsbury Colombo. The sixteenth encounter of Raigam Tele’es -, which is also the biggest annual event of the television industry in Sri Lanka will be held on the 21st of March 2020 at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.

    Raigam Tele'es (Sinhala: රයිගම් ටෙලි සම්මාන) is an award bestowed to distinguished individuals involved with the Sri Lanka's television screen, each year by the Kingdom of Raigam, Sri Lanka in recognition of the various contributions made by them to the Sri Lankan teledrama industry, television programs and media sector in the preceding year. The Raigam Tele'es is one of the most popular television program events in Sri Lanka. The awards were first introduced in 2005 and continuously undertaken with one interruption in 2021.

    Established exclusively for the recognition and appreciation of the efforts and achievements of artists, technicians and everyone associated with the teledrama industry, Raigam Tele Awards Ceremony this time promises to be the biggest and the best awards ceremony held in Sri Lanka.

    Awards given

    In 2005, the award ceremony commenced with 19 awards which were increased up to 55 awards in 2022. The awards are categorized into five sections Best Award category, Popular Award category, Talent Awards, Prathibha Prabha Award and Janagatha Award Category. In 2010 Raigam Tele'es, the award for the popular mega teledrama was given to Ithin Eeta Passe directed by Chandika Wijayasena and produced by ITN and Nilwala Video Team. However, the award was not awarded in the following years.

    Sri Lankan actor, singer and presenter

    Amila Sampath Abeysekara (born 7 March 1983: අමිල අබේසේකර), is an actor in Sri Lankan cinema and television. Mostly engaged in television, Abeysakara is best known for the role Amantha in the serial Paba, where he won the most popular actor award in 2009. He has also hosted four seasons in the reality show Derana Dream Star.

    Personal life

    Amila Abeysekara was born in Kandy. At the age of 10, they moved to Maharagama. He has two younger brothers. He started to education from Dharmaraja College, Kandy, and then moved to President's College, Maharagama. He played cricket in school times, where he continued to play for clubs before entering to acting. He is married to longtime partner Theja Jayawardena. The wedding was celebrated in 2010, however wedding was registered in 2004. She is currently working as a flight attendant in Emirates airline.

    Career

    In 1998, Abeysekara got the opportunity as an arbitrator at Swarnavahini. He started acting career in 2000 with the blockbuster serial Depath Nai. His maiden cinema acting came through 2008 film Hathara Denama Soorayo which is a remake of 1971 blockbuster of the same name directed by Neil Rupasinghe. He played the character Linton in that movie as a supportive role. In 2012, he acted in Sihinaya Dige Enna as the lead actor.

    He hosted the musical program Rhythm Chat telecast on Jathika Rupavahini.
